S1.7_RacingHeart_toDance Jen Brown
Jen Brown (Jenimaro) is a photo media and sound artist based in Launceston. She holds a PhD in creative media and teaches at the University of Tasmania and Southern Cross University (online). Her arts practice embraces a range of topics within the eclectic and ambiguous theme of "moving bodies in space and time", always with a eye/ear to the underpinning political and social implications of the scenarios depicted. Current projects utilise projection of ephemeral images after-dark onto surfaces of the built environment as a mode of reflecting on particular ways in which we construct a sense of place.
In collaboration with Tasdance, the Tasdancing series emerged as an exploration of how the sculptural body of the freeze-frame documentary photograph can be enlivened and intensified by setting it within a layered photo media montage of more flowing images of contemporary dance made through long exposures in theatre lighting.
Jen's images are printed on Canson Infinity Rag Photographique 310gsm 100 % cotton Rag paper. Prints are rated to 75-100 years.
